Sport Club Corinthians Paulista Fortaleza Esporte Clube Copa Sudamericana Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A Botafogo De Futebol E Regatas

Corinthians and Fortaleza make history with Copa Sudamericana win, Botafogo relegated to Série B

Sport Club Corinthians Paulista defeated Fortaleza Esporte Clube in the finals of the Copa Sudamericana, the second most important club competition in South America after the Copa Libertadores. The win marks Corinthians' first ever Copa Sudamericana title, while Fortaleza was making its first appearance in a continental final.

The match was played at the Estadio Mario Kempes in Cordoba, Argentina, in front of a crowd of over 50,000 fans. Corinthians took the lead in the first half through a goal from midfielder Renato Augusto. Fortaleza equalized in the second half through a goal from forward Moises, but Corinthians would eventually win the match 2-1 thanks to a late goal from defender Gil.

The victory gives Corinthians a berth in the 2023 Copa Libertadores, while Fortaleza will have to settle for a place in the 2023 Copa Sudamericana.

In other news, Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas was relegated to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B after a 1-0 loss to Ceará Sporting Club. The loss means that Botafogo will be playing in the second division of Brazilian soccer for the first time since 2015.

Botafogo has been struggling for the past few seasons, and its relegation was all but inevitable. The club has not won a major trophy since the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 1995, and it has been in financial trouble for several years.
