Aston Villa continued their impressive form in the Premier League by claiming a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Villa Park on Wednesday evening. Villa doubled their advantage in the 66th minute when Bertrand Traore fired home a clinical finish after being set up by Anwar El Ghazi. Tottenham continued to push for a goal, but they could not find a way past an inspired Emiliano Martinez in the Villa goal.
The win was a major boost for Villa's hopes of securing a top-half finish in the Premier League this season. Dean Smith's side have now won four of their last five matches and are unbeaten in six games in all competitions.
Tottenham, on the other hand, are in desperate need of improvement if they are to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle. Jose Mourinho's side have now lost four of their last five matches and have only won once in their last eight games.
